Coming Home!

Jessica isn't too happy with the bottle, but he needs to get nourishment.
That's one cute baby..he'll grow in to the newborn outfit.
G-Ma finally gets to hold the baby.
At the last minute, we got the word that Ezra would be released and allowed to go home.  He has to come back on Monday to check out his progress.  The word is that babies who have a difficult delivery, like getting vacuumed out, are slow to eat, etc.  Things are not progressing as usual, but with lots of prayer and encouragement they will improve.  Ezra had a bit of difficulty latching on to the breast and nursing for any length of time.  He lost over 8% of his birth weight and was a bit dehydrated, requiring an injection of fluids, and then was borderline jaundiced, requiring a lot of time under the lights.  We can see how anyone less determine than Jessica and Wills to breast feed their baby would be discouraged.

The new family has come home and hunkered down to work on being a new family unit and enjoying each other.  G-Pa and G-Ma have gone home to get some rest.

Still adjusting to our new role

This is the mechanical breast pump.  As Dave pointed out, here is a person that wanted a home birth with no drugs and now can't live with a manual pump.  This is sort of like a backpacker buying a trailer!
Sweet little baby Ezra under the lights for his jaundice....aka tryouts for the Blue Man Group.
Hearing test for newborns.
The sweetest little baby getting taken to his hearing test.
Brand new daddy Wills in the NCU with Ezra.  They were whisked away since Ezra suffered a great deal of stress during delivery.

Baby Swenson Has Arrived!

I know I'm going to hear it from Jessica on this photo, but you can believe that she went through one tough delivery.
G-Pa Dave with Daddy Wills and sweet baby Ezra.
Quite possibly the most precious and adorable baby ever born.

Jessica began contractions in earnest on Weds. morning...picking up through out the day. She went full on around midnight and delivered by 9:53 am. This makes it sound easy...it was not. It started out as a home birth and quickly changed to a hospital visit. Which was a really good thing the midwife recognized this early and packed us up and we all went to Kaiser in Walnut Creek. The team was spectacular and Mama and baby are healthy and recovering. G-Ma and G-Pa may have aged at least a decade on this one.

Afternoon Birthday Party

So do you see a theme in my life?  We have declared that after 2009 is over....no more clothesline jokes.

Can you have a Reverse Surprise Party?

This is a REALLY bad photo, but if your eyesight is as bad as mine, you can't tell!
Dana & Cindy
The young ladies looking as cute as ever!
Diane and Susan.....total glitz!

Fabulous centerpiece made by Margaret
Dave and I figured out how to do this with only one call to Diane!
All set up and ready to go...

Yes you can! I was a hostess at the Cornerstone Women's Christmas Dinner & Concert. I invited 7 people and told them not to talk about it because I could only invite a few. Some of the ladies just went with it, others couldn't bear not knowing...very funny. But there was a big celebration as each lady arrived!

The food was fabulous and the concert was great!
