Day 2 - Bad News

We're all looking forward to the "expanded continental" breakfast at the hotel. The original plan was to go to the Samoa Cook House (which is spectacularly delicious) but after reading all the reviews on the hotel breakfast, and it is included in the price of the room, and Edie's foot had turned purple, we ate at the hotel. Big mistake. This meal was horrible. Our most favorite meal...how can you ruin breakfast? A continental, expanded or not, breakfast?

During this meal, at precisiely 7 am, the decision was made to call the rescue team. Any doubt on this decision was gone with the sight of Edie hobbling out of her room calling "Marshall Dillon, Marshall Dillon" (trivia question for those under 50). The call was made to Officer Green, his mother Annette answered...it seems Officer Green, like most youth, wait until the sun has warmed the Earth before they get out of bed. The rescue team loaded up their riding gear and various medical and travel supplies and headed North on 101 to Eureka.

We iced Edie's foot again, loaded her up with Tylenol (we found out later it should have been ibuprofen) and sat her on her bike and head South on 101, she doesn't really need her right foot....oh, unless she has to put it down at a stop. Calls were made to synchronize the meeting point. Remember that it is a 5 hour ride from Pleasanton to Eureka, so the progress by the southern travelers saves the rescue team double that. Remember that math problem? If a train is traveling north going 70 miles per hour and another train is traveling south going 60 miles per hour, when will they meet? And the answer is.....Ukiah!
