Le Merce 2012

Totally unplanned, our visit coincided with Le Merce 2012. This is Barcelona's greatest festival, and they are a festival loving town.  They celebrate in a unique way.  They stack humans 50 feet high, run through fire (really HUGE fires, like bonfires where they are engulfed in the flames. They give suggestions and warnings on burning flesh), parade giant heads in the streets, and fireworks...well, that part isn't unique but the others are unique....

We didn't experience everything.  The Spaniards just get started around the time we are going to sleep.  Really...the place just begins to get started around 8:30 pm!  Of course they also begin their day late..around 10 am.  And they take a couple of hours off for a midday rest.  Really.  They shut down their business.  Roll down the doors and shut it down.  Could that be why they're in a "Crisis"?  Just asking.....

We also missed some stuff because we had already paid (big bucks) for a tour...that totally sucked....more about that in another posting.
