Eureka Springs, Arkansas 2.0

GREAT weather....well until around 1 when it went all humid.....still MUCH cooler than it has been.

During our delicious breakfast at the Inn we met some new and interesting people....a couple celebrating their 54th wedding anniversary (she has 15 cats!), a woman here alone because her husband had to go to Africa for mission work and there are no refunds so she decided to come alone, and a gay couple who are both in music (one a college professor and the other a private teacher).

The guys took one last long ride while the ladies shopped, looked at other Inns (just in case), ate lunch, and checked out a place for dinner. This is a lovely little town, a weekend destination for people in the area. There's a hop on/hop off trolley that can take you just about any where for $5 all day. All I bought was a pair of earrings.

My favorite shop was the quilt shop. We went in just to take a look. There was an entire room of quilts, some Amish made. I found one that I loved, $1,875, that I would never be able to touch without getting stressed about something bad happening to it. I can admire without buying, and they were spectacular. No photos because they do not allow it...I also have a bad connection.

The ladies also took the trolley all the way out to the Thorncrown Chapel which is a glass chapel in the woods, just awesome. This would be a spectacular wedding site.

We finished the day with a wonderful dinner at the Grand Tavern....great service, delicious food, and friendly customers (one guy stopped at our table twice to talk). A big plus is that we walked the mile to and from the dinner. On our walk we got a closer look at the area. This is a former hippy area that is still eclectic. There are a few cute places but then again too many weathered places. We're still seeing many empty store fronts, etc. There was plenty of excitement when we watched an armadillo hunting in a yard, deer walking around (we felt back at home), a large beaver/groundhog thing, spiders, and plenty of lightening bugs.

This is the last night of our vacation. We're headed back to Kansas City, MO to return the bikes tomorrow. Weather report is showing thunder storms, possibly severe. Will this crazy weather never end? Oh yeah, when we're back in P-Town :)
