Harrison, Arkansas

At breakfast we met some of the other guests. People are so interesting. We heard that Mountain Home, just to the north of Mountain View, is filled with Californians. We told them it was probably because they couldn't retire in CA, way too expensive to live.

We didn't leave until 9, which may not have been such a good idea because once again, it is HOT! We took the long way, the Moonshine Run, to Harrison. This is a beautiful ride. The last hour was so hot, and there wasn't a place to stop and get a drink and cool off, so that when we arrived we were so ready to get off the bike. The Seville is located a block off the Square and has been totally renovated. There's also a wedding in the lobby so they're closing it down for an hour!

We walked around the Square and did a little shopping. This weekend is a Sales Tax Holiday in the State...I think a couple other States are doing the same thing. The rate here is 8 percent, but they tax everything, including food purchased at the supermarket. We met many interesting and friendly people. The guy at the boot store was especially entertaining with his puzzles and jokes. We made some purchases, clothing for the ladies and books for everyone at the second hand bookstore. I'm not quite sure how Margaret is going to get everything on their bike, but somehow she makes it work.

There's a local production of Annie at a renovated theater on the Square so we purchased tickets at $8 a piece (we got the senior discount for those 55 and older.....I just missed it, but they gave me the rate too). This makes the third live performance on the trip! We went to a movie too. We are so cultured ;)

Dave and I are splitting dinners, I think we are just overloaded and overfed. Oh, and this is a wet county! Hurray for alcohol! I remain alcohol free and tell people that's because I'm driving. We didn't see trailers as we entered the town, there were huge homes as we rode in...mansions....like nothing we've seen so far....they could fit in around Danville.

Sorry that I'm not including photos...I'm just too tired to load them up. Now to try to sleep with the lightening and thunder...to say nothing of the pounding bass from the wedding reception below.
