Fayetteville, Arkansas

The breakfast buffet was great, the waffles were excellent. We don't usually have waffles, but the woman insisted on us having some because they're so tasty. There was one woman doing all the set up, etc. She was so cheerful, friendly, and wanted us to have a wonderful breakfast. Once again, the people are so nice here. We were fed and on the road by 7:30 am. It was much cooler after the evening thunderstorms. The weather was still a bit unsettled and we did get some showers. This is what it looked like on our way to Fayetteville:
At our gas stop, this is what we saw....a vending machine for live bait...not something I've ever seen before....ever
And just in case you're not sure, the sign further explains that yes, there are live worms inside
These are two good ole boys sitting at one of the picnic tables outside of the market at the gas station...again, you don't usually see picnic tables at a gas station in CA. The guys were very friendly. The one on the left used to drive produce in CA from Oakland to Bakersfield. This is the second guy we've met that drove through Bakersfield. Both of them thought it was real pretty. Tells ya something, doesn't it?
Dave lived in Fayetteville and graduated from the University of Arkansas, which makes him a Razorback, or Hog.....ask him to call the Hogs sometime, it's highly entertaining. Margaret's parents lived in Fayetteville. So upon arrival we took a tour of the homes of their parents and then Dave gave me a guided tour of former work places, home of his friends, high school, college, where he hung out, the place he got pulled over by the police. It was fascinating. We also went to the Wal-Mart, the new one, a Super Wal-Mart. The place was huge! It had two big sections that sold nothing but U of A stuff. I was looking for a cute little T-shirt with a Hog on it for Ezra. No luck. But I did find an adorable sweatshirt and then a T-shirt and short outfit. I'm sure you'll be seeing them in future postings of Ezra.
Our lunch stop was at the Catfish Hole, but we had to hurry before the Baptists got out of church, they get out earlier than the church of Christ. Both places of worship are located very near to the restaurant. We arrived to an empty parking lot that was full when we left. We all agreed that this place was much better than JoJo's in Mountain View. The hush puppies were the BEST and the catfish and pickled green tomatoes were also excellent. We've got to stop eating like this. I think we'll stop and buy Slim Fast on our arrival back home and just drink shakes for a week.

I really wish it wasn't so hot. I tried to go to the mall, they have a fabulous Dillard's, but I just couldn't get cooled. We ended up returning to the B&B (which is our favorite, so far) and taking a cold shower. I finished the Hunger Games and Dave is almost finished with the second book. My big disappointment is that we're here on Sunday and Hobby Lobby is closed on Sundays. We're leaving before it opens on Monday, so I'm missing out...on this trip. I would definitely come back and ride this again, but not at this time of year...Last week of September or first of October would be better...MUCH better.

We finished the evening at the Mexican restaurant across the street. We met up with Dave's friends and former family. The cook called in sick, so it took almost 2 hours to get food. I ate chips and guac and couldn't eat my food when it finally arrived. Right about now the chips are expanding in my belly which is causing a very bad ache. I do not like that when it happens....why oh why do I eat all those chips?
