Mountain View, Arkansas 1.0

We left at 5:45 am and arrived at 10:30 am...squeezing breakfast in between. I had two eggs, patty sausage, biscuit and gravy...for $7! Dave splurged for the hash browns so his was $7.25! I didn't clean my plate.....this food is getting to be a bit much.

The ride was fabulous and we arrived before I had time to melt. Our B&B is right on the Square. It is the best so far....the Inn at Mountain View. The only bummer is it's up for sale because of a divorce. I don't even know this guy and I am so sad, I keep thinking about it. Dave was asking him all the about the Inn, the price, how many rooms, etc. Then I was really getting a little worried that Dave wanted to buy the place!

We walked all over the town....running from air conditioned store to air conditioned store. Scott bought a new pair of boots, since his were glued together. Dave tried some on too, but he's still thinking about it. We had fun talking to all the locals. I did enjoy the quilting stores, but my favorite was the Mennonite couple's place, the Yoder Cupboard. I wish there was a store like it back home. They had all sorts of stuff to bake, cook, clothes pin bags, pie fillings, wagon wheel pasta...just very unusual and cool stuff. We talked to them about their business and the local area, they just moved here two years ago. They say the economy is what is killing the resort areas. If people aren't working, and don't have money to spend, they don't go to the resorts....and ripple effect. But they did say that the coasts have economic spikes and the middle America has economic waves. There are plenty of empty store fronts and "bank owned" signs on buildings.

There was quite a surprise when we walked to the Mexican restaurant for lunch and Margaret ordered a Margarita.....the waiter laughed at her and announced this is a dry county! We found out the nearest place to purchase alcohol (the town of 56, must be the road number). One of the clerks at a store told us all about the road blocks they put up to catch drinkers and that they do not take credit or debit cards...but they do have some really good boxed wines...LOL. Gee, it's so hot I might need to put an ice cube in the wine!

The guys are riding the long route tomorrow, without the ladies....we're getting massages tomorrow....a whole hour for $45. And there are about a half dozen nail places, who knew?

We ended up having dinner at the #1 restaurant on Tripadvisor.com.......Tommy's Famous Pizzeria. I think we're all a little done with this food. We're craving some grilled fish and fresh veggies. It'll be some time before we can do that.
